Bently the Schnauzer at our Woodland Clinic
From the quiet and relaxed to the noisy and frenetic, see them all and with their humans, too, at http://facebook.com/dogandcatshots
Last week Bently brought his human with him to our vaccination clinic in Woodland and proved to be surprisingly calm for the event. Usually the Standard and Miniature Schnauzers can be heard a block away with their persistent and good natured antics and barking. Bently is a representative of the original Schnauzer size from which the other types were developed. The toy and teacup varieties are unrecognized miniature strains of Schnauzer. The three recognized Schnauzer types are the original Standard (Bently’s size) from 15th century Germany, the larger Giant Schnauzer developed in the 17th century and the Miniature Schnauzer. All the Schnauzers started with German Pinscher breeding. The Giant derives from Standard Schnauzer and Rough Coated Pinscher while the Miniature is a cross of Standard and Poodle or Affenpinscher. They all make good family pets and good alert guard dogs as they seem to never rest and like to bark . . .a lot! These are safe, fun and entertaining dogs who can brighten any household. The only maintenance issue is that their coat needs to be stripped or clipped several times per year.
