Coco the Miniature Poodle visited us in Woodland

This Miniature Poodle puppy named Coco brought his human with him to our pet vaccination clinic in Woodland. We love Miniature Poodles, the world loves Miniature Poodles and Miniature Poodles love back. This breed is typically between 11 to 15 inches tall (at the shoulder) and has a completely different background and use than do the large Standard Poodles which were dogs originally intended for hunting waterfowl. The Miniature Poodles do not have affinity for water nor do they have a prey drive because they were bred to find and dig truffles! Pigs had traditionally been used for this purpose but in their frantic effort to dig truffles, pigs do terrible damage to the ground. Eventually truffle collectors crossed local terriers with the Standard Poodle to produce an intelligent and less destructive truffle hunter. Miniature Poodles quickly became a house and lap-dog associated with middle and upper class ladies of England and France and today they still make the best of pets. Their coat is the typical Poodle type which is curly, doesn’t shed, is hypoallergenic but requires grooming or clipping. – Geoffrey Antipa http://dogandcatshots.com
